Re: Prioritise Space For Health
Dear xx,
As you may be aware, on 23rd April, over 100 Australian public health organisations, doctors, and research experts called for urgent measures to support safe walking and cycling and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since numerous business and other organisations have added their names.  I/we would strongly endorse this letter.

(Insert a sentence here about why you, your organisation is interested in health and the impact the built environment has on health outcomes, etc... OR a personal story about how this affects you)

Cities and towns from across the world are enabling walking and cycling for COVID-19 by implementing temporary infrastructure. This is being rolled out successfully in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA, and more. We have vast amounts of currently underused road space which can temporarily reallocated at low cost.
I/We are concerned about the lack of walking and cycling infrastructure to:
●      Enable physical activity that complies with the government guidance of 1.5m;
●      Provide safe and vehicle separated infrastructure for school children;
●      Provide alternatives to public transport for essential workers;
●      Reduce our reliance on private vehicles;
●      Provide low-cost and equitable transport for unemployed, underemployed and key workers.
I/We also believe this current situation provides the State Government with a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to create new transport behaviours that improve the health, social and economic outcomes for every person in name your council area/state.  Clean air, liveability and sustainability of our cities depend on it.
I/We look forward to hearing from your office in coming days to follow up with you on measures that may already be under consideration or could be considered for the positive benefits for your constituents and all Australians.

If you would like to discuss further, please contact xxxxxxx on ##### or email
Yours sincerely,
