Parklets

Parklets are a way to occupy space on the road that is safe for people to sit, dwell, eat, and be out in the open. It's a cost effective way to increase space for people particularly in front of shops and restaurants to ensure people walking on footpaths have space to walk. 

The City of Sydney council is expanding its outdoor dining to extend to car parking space. More details here.

The City of Melbourne has an outdoor dining policy that permits parklets. More details here.

Randwick city council converted a travel lane on Coogee Bay Road for outdoor dining and also reduced the motor vehicle traffic through the street, improved noise levels and the air quality. Project information here.
